Project Description
The Senior Software Commissioning Engineer position focuses on planning, organizing, and testing complex technical projects involving system integration and client-specific solution development. The engineer will be responsible for leading projects from initial concept through final implementation, including work on software verification of Fortna WES (Warehouse Execution System) products. The position requires frequent travel to client sites (75% of time) and close collaboration with development, testing, and project management teams.

Job Responsibilities:
- Travel to client sites and lead testing and project implementation
- Create documentation for Fortna WES products
- Collaborate with Software Project Management on planning activities throughout the project lifetime
- Assist Software Quality Assurance and Development teams with requirements clarification
- Create advanced test cases and test plans for FortnaWES solutions
- Provide valuable input to R&D and WCS/WES roadmap initiatives based on client engagements and feedback
- Lead lessons learned documentation post project go-live
- Ensure that integrated software systems meet functional requirements and interface specifications
- Support Lifecycle Services with high tier support tickets
- Guide and train newer software commissioning engineers
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Provide relevant comparisons of WCS/WES concepts with similar operational environments
- Work closely with Software Quality Assurance and Development teams to ensure design solutions align with current product offerings
Must Have Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or related field
- Knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards (TCP/IP, FTP, SOA)
- Knowledge of database design and file management techniques
- Knowledge of network and PC operating systems (Linux, Microsoft Windows)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
- Ability to work on-site 75% of time and be flexible
- Team player who works well with technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders
Nice to Have Skills:
- AutoStore experience (highly desired)
- Experience in supply chain, distribution, warehouse management systems, and warehouse control systems technologie)
- 4+ years of experience with JSE/JEE technologies including Swing and Applets
- 4+ years of experience in application server implementation
- Proficiency in diagnosing transactions in J2EE and C++ environments
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- Knowledge and understanding of FortnaWES software technologies, methodologies, and best practices
- Business case development and modeling techniques and methods
